Wind advisory forewarns of gusts up to 55mph

WHATCOM COUNTY, Wash. — Forecasters in the Seattle office of the National Weather Service have issued a wind advisory effective between 10pm tonight, Saturday, January 1st, and 4pm tomorrow.

The advisory says to expect sustained southeast winds of 25 to 35mph with gusts up to 55mph during that time.

The advisory area extends from western Whatcom County into San Juan County, western Skagit County, the Admiralty Inlet area and the north and central coastal areas.

Forecasters warn that the combination of additional weight from snow and ice in the trees and temperatures below freezing the last few days could make it easier for trees to come down and power outages may be more likely.
