SANDY POINT, Wash. — Whatcom County Fire District 17, serving Sandy Point Shores, Sandy Point Heights, Neptune Heights, Neptune Beach and western portions of the Lummi Indian Reservation, is behind in voter support for a property tax levy to move their main fire station and offices.
The initial vote count was reported yesterday, April 23rd, about 8pm by the Whatcom County Election Division. There were 228 votes (49.14%) in favor and 236 votes (50.86%) against the levy.
There are 1,377 register voters across 2 precincts that were eligible to vote on the levy request.
The next vote count is expected on May 2nd.
