Bellingham Fire Department investigators were dispatched to determine the cause of the fire.
A person on the boat was able to get off without any injury.
Surrounding homes and businesses have been notified to evacuate or shelter in place.
Bellingham Fire Department said the next day that agencies were still investigating the cause.
As of 10:15am, Alabama Street was temporarily shut down between Orleans Street and Racine Street.
State Street was closed for about 2 hours.
The road was reportedly reopened about 3:40pm.
Initial radioed reports from the scene were that flames and smoke were visible from the roof of the business.
