Ferndale man killed in car crash at Mountlake Terrace transit station

Ferndale, Wash. — Washington State Patrol said in a press memo released today, Tuesday, April 21, 2026, that a 43-year-old Ferndale man was killed after crashing a car into a transit station along I-5.

The crash occurred about 3:30am today when the 2007 Mercedes-Benz ML SUV the man was driving northbound on I-5 took the off-ramp to the Mountlake Terrace transit station at 236th Street SW. The Mercedes-Benz struck a wall and caught fire.

Witnesses reported seeing the car fully engulfed before first responders arrived. Seattle media reported the car ended up upside down.

WSP say the man, who was the only occupant, was declared deceased at the scene.

The cause remains under investigation. It was unknown whether drugs or alcohol were involved or if the driver was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
