There have been reports of several vehicles that have slid off roads and crashes as a result of the slick roads due to the arrival of freezing temperatures and snow today.

Emergency personnel and public works crews have been kept busy today dealing with traffic incidents and slick roads. As one example, police temporarily closed the slope of Church Road north of Mountainview Road due to vehicles struggling to maintain control. At the time this story was written Ferndale Public Works crews were reported on-site to sand the road.

Ferndale Public Works Supervisor Bo Westford said road conditions went from not too bad to really slick within an hour and public works crews have headed out to plow and apply sand. When asked where the trouble spots were, Westford said, “Everywhere.”

A reader reported a traffic back up at the Vista Drive roundabout due to a one or more vehicles stuck at the bottom of the Vista Drive hill at the entrance to the roundabout.
