For some reason a lot of drivers are taking to Main Street westbound today. The result is a slow-moving backup of traffic from downtown to I-5.

The heavy rains are now past says the National Weather Service but downstream from the mountains Ferndale still gets to wait for the expected results of those rains in the form of minor flooding.
The City of Ferndale is notifying the community to be aware of a nighttime road closure coming up.

This morning, the National Weather Service upgraded the standing Flood Watch to a Flood Warning for the Nooksack River. A flood watch is issued when the possibility of flooding exists and a flood warning is issued when flooding is imminent or already occurring.
6:30am: Good morning. It was a noisy night for most with high wind gusts over 50mph lasting until after 3am this morning. A couple-hundred neighbors lost power as a result. The winds make it harder to enjoy the relatively warm temperatures in the fifties. And the rain, which began about 5:30am doesn’t help either.
