7:30am: Good morning. Your morning update is a little late as we have been covering the unexpected prolonged closure of Washington Street this morning. Other than that little snafu, it is simply a cold and dry morning out with temperatures around Ferndale in the mid-30s. If you have a view of the sunrise, it would probably be a good idea to grab your camera. Send us your pictures and we will happily share them with your neighbors.

The plan was to close Washington Street between 3rd Avenue and Golden Eagle Drive overnight to allow a private developer’s contractor to dig up the road to connect to the city’s sewer system. Unfortunately, it’s going to be closed longer.

The Washington State Department of Transportation has scheduled the following closures of I-5 southbound at the Birch Bay-Lynden Road interchange.
As was forewarned last week, from 7pm to 7am tonight, drivers will be detoured around Washington Street between 3rd Avenue and Golden Eagle Drive while the road is closed for construction work. The detour will be via 3rd Avenue and Vista Drive.
