A couple incidents that happened while we slept

While reviewing law enforcement dispatch radio broadcasts from last night, a couple incidents were discovered worth noting:

  1. A pedestrian was struck by the driver’s side of a flatbed trailer in the 4200 block of the Guide Meridian about 3:30am. According to people on the scene communicating with WhatComm dispatch, the truck driver said they were going to move the semi truck to block traffic to protect the victim who was laying in the road. But shortly after, law enforcement issued a “watch for” with the truck’s description including “blood on the driver’s side of the flatbed trailer.” No further information could be determined from the recorded radio transmissions.
  2. And at just about the same time, a driver went past the “Road Closed” signs westbound on Marine Drive and ended up in the ditch and flood waters by Ferndale Road. They called 911 and requested assistance. This provides a good opportunity to remind people to be mindful of these signs and to “Turn around. Don’t Drown.”
