The Washington State Department of Transportation has scheduled the following closures of I-5 southbound at the Birch Bay-Lynden Road interchange. Traffic will be detoured via the off and on ramps during the closure. The closure is necessary to make repairs to the bridge after it was damaged last spring.
- Both I-5 southbound lanes will be closed Tuesday night from midnight to 5am Wednesday morning
- Expect single lane closures on I-5 at the overpass daily from 7am to 3:30pm for the rest of the week.
Crews are replacing a 60-foot girder on the bridge and the repairs are expected to be completed in early April.
