This morning, the National Weather Service upgraded the standing Flood Watch to a Flood Warning for the Nooksack River. A flood watch is issued when the possibility of flooding exists and a flood warning is issued when flooding is imminent or already occurring.

The Nooksack River level forecast at Ferndale calls for the river to crest in Ferndale at just beyond flood stage (19 feet) around noon Friday.

Drivers should be prepared for water and debris over roads near the river in some places. It is not unusual when the river reaches this level for the following roads to be closed due to water over the roadway:

    • Slater Road
    • Marine Drive
    • Ferndale Road (south of Slater)
    • Barrett and Paradise Roads

Discover Ferndale will continue monitoring the situation and updates will be posted as new information becomes available.
