Warming is expected to replace the snow with rain by the afternoon with a chance for freezing rain during the transition.

Motorists encountered what were described as "deceptively icy" roads.
The warning says to expect heavy snow with total accumulations of 2 to 6 inches.
During the same time, Bellingham and areas to the immediate south saw little to no snow accumulation.

This snow event is expected to produce heavy wet snow as opposed to the recent snow events which produced light dry snow.
As of 6am, the snowfall was expected to continue across much of western Washington for another 3 to 4 hours.
A winter weather advisory has also been issued for the higher elevations as well.
Road conditions described as treacherous this morning. State and local agencies advise not to drive unless absolutely necessary.
