Alternate routes around the slide area are either closed or also reported to be impacted by water and/or debris over the roadway.
Over 2.5 inches of rain had been reported during the 48-hour period prior to when the slide was reported.
As of 12:20pm, the southbound on-ramp from Slater Road and the right lane of the southbound mainline lanes were blocked.
Traffic was diverted off and back on I-5 at the Portal Way interchange.
There is still some work to finish this week that may require occasionally closing a lane.
The northbound lanes remain closed with no official detour route available.
Main Street remains closed in both directions from I-5.
The northbound I-5 lanes in the area remained closed as of 5am.
