BELLINGHAM, Wash. — Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) officials said about 7:30am this morning, November 29th, northbound I-5, north of the Nulle Road interchange, continued to be reduced to a single lane through an area impacted yesterday by a debris slide with downed trees.
The right lane remained blocked as of this morning’s announcement. It was said WSDOT crews would be out later today to assess the situation and determine “next steps.”
A traffic backup extended over 3 miles as of 9am today.
Alternate routes around the slide area are either closed or also reported to be impacted by water and/or debris over the roadway.
- Valley Highway (SR9) is closed in both directions south of Acme due to flooding
- Roads around Lake Samish have been closed due to water over and damage to the roadway
- Chuckanut Drive (SR11) has been reported to have water and debris over sections
