The Elections Division of the Whatcom County Auditor’s Office mailed out voters’ ballots for the August 4th Primary Election on July 15th. This year voters will be asked to choose 4 of the 7 City Council positions. This article, second in a series, will look at the three candidates running for the #4 seat on the council.
The city has put on the ballot this year a tax district much like the Transportation Benefit District sales tax approved by voters a few years ago. The proposal is for a Metropolitan Parks District which will collect taxes to be used toward purchasing and maintenance on new and existing city park lands. These funds would be in addition to what has been budgeted for parks.
