Occupant injured and home destroyed in Blaine fire Saturday evening

BLAINE, Wash. — First responders were dispatched about 7:05pm on Saturday, October 1st, to the 100 block of Poplar View Street in Blaine due to a report of a residential structure fire.

According to initial radio transmissions at the time, there were several 911 callers reporting the fire. Firefighters arrived to find people standing outside a fully involved a fully involved single-wide mobile home.

North Whatcom Fire & Rescue Fire Chief Jason Van der Veen told Whatcom News an occupant was transported by a medic unit to PeaceHealth St Joseph Medical Center under advanced life support protocols.

Firefighters got the fire knocked down and, as of 8pm were in mop up.

Van der Veen said the residence was a total loss and there was only the 1 occupant.

The cause of the fire is being investigated by the Whatcom County Fire Marshal’s Office.
