FERNDALE, Wash. — The Ferndale School District announced the new gym, part of the new Ferndale High School construction project, will be open to students this week. This is the first structure in the project to open to students.
Next week marks a huge milestone: the opening of our new gym! The Athletic Wing will be open Monday morning to host Freshman/New Student Orientation, and students will be using the gym for the first day of school Wednesday. We are so excited to finally have this major component of our new campus ready for staff and students! Thank you to our construction partners for getting this phase of our project completed ahead of schedule. Ferndale School District Superintendent Kristi Dominguez (August 26, 2022)
The former gym and adjacent athletic building were recently demolished to make way for new buildings.
The primary 3-story academic wing has been estimated to open to students in January 2023.
According to the project’s general contractor, Cornerstone General Contractors, “The replacement high school is expected to add around 212,000 SF of new construction and will have a core capacity for up to 1,600 students. In addition, this project also includes upgrades to the existing 27,400 GSF Performing Arts Center (PAC). School will remain in session on site during construction.”

Where is this located for some of us “old” students who used the old gym a lot!
