The population of Ferndale has nearly doubled since the year 2000. And with that growth comes interest from businesses seeking locations close to large growing populations.

SYB Holding Company has been providing locations for businesses by developing the Pacific Industrial Park south of West Smith Road and east of Interstate 5. And while there are many tenants in existing buildings, space remains available and additional buildings are in the works.

One of the new buildings being planned will face I-5. This building, named the Pacific Commons Building, will feature 26,000 square-feet of modern professional retail and office spaces expected to attract professional services and medical businesses which can benefit from the I-5 exposure.

In addition to the buildings in the Pacific Industrial Park, SYB intends to build on land they own adjacent to the Ferndale Public Library on Main Street. Two buildings are planned there. One is a commercial building, named the Boulos Twins Building, that would provide retail spaces on the ground level and office spaces in the upper floors. The hope is for a high-end restaurant to occupy all or part of the upper floor to take advantage of the expansive views of Puget Sound, Mount Baker and the San Juan Islands.

Planned to be built behind the Boulos Twins Building is a 5-story residential condominium building (not pictured) which would provide covered parking on its first two floors. The condominiums will occupy 3 floors and range in size from 800 to 1700 square-feet.

While the properties have been prepared and initial regulatory processes already completed, these projects are waiting on commitments from anchor tenants before they will move forward.
