WHATCOM COUNTY, Wash. — A 33-year-old female hiker was evacuated by a US Coast Guard aircrew from Mount Larrabee on June 20, 2026.

According to a U.S. Coast Guard press release, the Washington State Emergency Management Division requested assistance to conduct the evacuation before sunset. The hiker had fallen 120 feet down a gully on the south face of the mountain and sustained injuries that prevented her from descending.
An MH-65 Dolphin helicopter aircrew from Coast Guard Air Station Port Angeles searched the gully for 40 minutes before locating the group, according to the press release. The aircrew performed a hoist operation at an altitude of 6,710 feet at about 8:40pm.
