Early morning Ferndale house fire displaces occupants

FERNDALE, Wash. — First responders were dispatched to Elm Court in Ferndale about 1:25am on Sunday, June 21, 2026 due to reports of a residential fire.

Initial reports from the scene were that much of the front of the single story residence was on fire.

Whatcom County Fire District 7 Assistant Chief Ben Russell told Whatcom News that the occupants were already outside when they arrived.

Russell said there were no injuries and firefighters took a defensive posture to prevent the fire from spreading to nearby structures.

The Whatcom County Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause. The occupants were able to stay with friends and family.
