Mr Gump,

Bingo!!

We lived for many years in Sonoma County, California. Just before we moved there, the locals being weary and worn out from the never ending requests for more money from local school districts, voted on a ballot measure to create a single countywide school district. It was a real fight with all the unions involved, but finally common sense prevailed and it passed. The result? It was over 15 years before the voters were asked for more money for schools, and that was to build Windsor High School in the far north part of the county.

Consolidation works, if done with thought. It would work here. Whatcom County is very similar to Sonoma in size and population. All the money saved could be used to help with teachers salaries and class size reduction. Would love to figure out how to get this on the ballot here.
