WHATCOM COUNTY, Wash. — Forecasters with the National Weather Service Seattle office are expecting an atmospheric river event to arrive at western Washington and British Columbia including Whatcom County mid-day on Friday, October 18th.
An atmospheric river will push into western Washington and British Columbia mid-day Friday, bringing significant rainfall to the region.
Gusty winds will also accompany this storm system, with gusts reaching 30 to 40 mph particularly along the north coast and gusts of 20 to 30 mph elsewhere. Temperatures will warm up several degrees as this system moves over the region, peaking in the low 60s across the lowlands on Saturday and Sunday. National Weather Service (October 17, 2024)
Forecasters in the Seattle office of the National Weather Service have issued a wind advisory that will be effective from 2pm on Friday, October 18th, through 5am on Saturday.
The advisory warns of sustained southeast winds of 20 to 30mph with gusts up to 45mph.
The advisory area includes western Whatcom County, San Juan County, western Skagit County, the Admiralty Inlet area and Everett and Vicinity.
The current Nooksack River level forecasts show dramatic increases in the river level though Monday, October 21st, while cresting well below flood stage.
