BLAINE, Wash. — Blaine Police Department (BPD) officers were dispatched to Montfort Park for a report of a man attacked with a knife on Monday, August 17, 2026, at about 8:10pm, according to a BPD press release.

According to BPD, the victim did not call 911 immediately. North Whatcom Fire and Rescue personnel were treating the victim upon police arrival. The victim sustained a non-life-threatening laceration above his right eye. Units from the Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office and a Bellingham Police Department K-9 unit also responded.

According to BPD, the victim reported walking on a trail in the park when an unknown white male swung a knife at him. The suspect was described as 25 to 35 years old, between 5-10 and 6-0 tall, wearing blue jeans and a red and black flannel jacket.

A K-9 track and a BPD drone deployment did not locate the suspect.
