The National Weather Service (NWS) office in Seattle has issued a Winter Weather Advisory this morning, Friday, December 29th, that is in effect until 9pm this evening.
The advisory says inland locations of Whatcom County, including Ferndale, can expect additional ice accumulations of around 1/10th of an inch due to freezing rain.
Current temperatures around the Ferndale area are hovering just above and below the freezing mark, 32°. According to the NWS advisory, temperatures are expected to remain around freezing until rising later this evening.
Freezing rain can cause icy conditions on roads and drivers should adjust their speed and stopping distances accordingly.
