Around noon today, Comcast/Xfinity Voice (telephone) Service customers found they were unable to call out or receive calls.
According to automated response systems, the estimation for restoring service was originally given as 3:30pm today. Customers nationwide took to social media at around the same time to complain about the loss of their voice services indicating the problem is widespread.
Comcast Communication Senior Director Walter Neary told Discover Ferndale, “we’re aware of the issue, engineers are troubleshooting it now.”
During the outage people were greeted by the message, “You have reached a non-working number” when calling an impacted business.

According to Branch Director Anya Milton, “This is a safety issue when we need to reach parents or parents need to reach us.” To address that, Milton advises parents needing to contact them should do so via email which they are monitoring closely. Comcast Business officials said as of 2:30pm outbound and inbound phone service for Comcast Business customers remains “impacted.” No estimate for restoring service was given. Instead, “National engineering is actively working to resolve this issue and we will continue to update this thread with the most current information.”

Comcast Business officials announced “we have resolved this issue for a good portion of our affected customers. We are still working to get this resolved as soon as possible for all customers. No other estimated time of resolutions now.”

No new information from Comcast Business officials except they are working to get “business voice services back up and running as quickly as possible.”

Impacted local businesses are reporting their phone service has been restored.
