A call for ideas was launched earlier this year by the Ferndale Arts Commission, asking for design submissions for a mural to be painted on the water tank at the northeast corner of Thornton Street and Vista Drive.
While the selected mural design has not been revealed, volunteers today began painting what is reported to be a cityscape mural on a 10-foot by 140-foot prepared space on the side of the water tank.
The plan, according to organizers, is for volunteers to complete the painting over three days, ending August 20th. Artists and Project Coordinators Karen Theusen and Colleen Harper will then add some final touches to complete the mural.
The goal is to complete the painting by August 31st.
