Updated forecasts result in winter storm watch being issued for western Whatcom County

WHATCOM COUNTY, Wash. — Updated forecasts are calling for possible heavy snow in the lowlands of western Whatcom County according to a winter storm watch issued about 1:30pm on Thursday, January 30, 2025.

The watch period is from Saturday evening through Monday morning. According to the watch statement, heavy snow with total snow accumulations between 2 and 7 inches is possible. The watch area includes San Juan County.

Travel could be very difficult. The hazardous conditions could impact the Monday morning commute. Snow showers are likely at times Saturday night through Monday morning, with localized heavier snowfall amounts possible. The potential for refreezing exists Monday morning.
