Original Story
It has been a tough 18+ hours for the contractor crew working on Washington Street as a result of damaging a water main while establishing a connection to the city sewer for a private developer.
It was initially planned to close Washington Street from 3rd Avenue to Golden Eagle Drive during overnight hours. But when a water main was damaged in the late evening, the project ended up several hours behind.
According to Public Works Foreman Jim Slaughter this afternoon, the revised goal of a noon completion has since been moved to 4pm or later. School District’s transportation office has been kept up-to-date with progress according to Slaughter.
