A sudden flurry of vehicle accidents this afternoon

Within a few minutes of 1pm today, three unrelated vehicle crashes, one involving a pedestrian, were responded to by police and aid.

Initially, Ferndale police were called to a crash in the 1700 block of Main Street. Initial report was no injuries and the vehicles had moved into the NAPA Auto Parts store parking lot.

Shortly after, A Whatcom Fire District unit contacted What-comm 911 dispatch to report having come upon a vehicle vs pedestrian incident in the Haggen parking lot. No significant injuries were reported and all parties remained at the scene.

Then a vehicle reported to have been heading northbound on I-5 north of the Bakerview Road interchange left the roadway and rolled several times. Initial reports said the vehicle ended up nearer the southbound lanes in the median and the driver is appears to have a broken arm.

Traffic was reduced to one lane in both directions while first responders did their work.

These incidents all occurred within 30 minutes of this article so few details are known at this time.

UPDATE 2pm
The crash on I-5 has been cleared and all lanes are open again.
