WHATCOM COUNTY, Wash. — Puget Sound Energy (PSE) reported about 3pm that about 2,000 of their customer addresses in Whatcom County were without power during a Puget Sound region windstorm that began earlier today, Saturday, December 14th.

PSE also reported a total of nearly 50,000 addresses were without power across their entire service area.
Washington State Department of Transportation reported about 3pm that trees and power lines had fallen across the roadway in the area of the intersection of Nooksack Road (SR9) and E Badger Road (SR546) in Everson. Everson Police report the road has been shut down at Nooksack Road and Lindsay Road as well as E Badger Road and Nooksack Road as a result. No estimate was available for reopening the lanes.

Washington State Patrol reported a crash occurred about 11am in the northbound lanes of I-5 south of Bellingham after a tree fell onto an SUV that was traveling northbound. Both occupants were transported to the hospital due to minor injuries.

Wind gusts of 66mph were reported at a weather station in Ferndale about 12:15pm. Wind speeds have been decreasing since.

About 3:40pm, forecasters with the National Weather Service said, “Winds have eased below advisory levels but will remain breezy throughout the rest of the afternoon, therefore the advisory will expire [at 4pm].”
