Vehicle vs pole crash temporarily darkens downtown Ferndale

FERNDALE, Wash. — First responders were dispatched to the 5100 block of LaBounty Drive in Ferndale about 3am on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, due to report of a vehicle versus power pole crash.

Initial radioed reports from the scene were that the pole was on the vehicle with power lines hanging over the roadway. Law enforcement temporarily closed that section of road to traffic.

According to the PulsePoint EMS dispatch log reporting system, at least 1 patient was transported from the scene to PeaceHealth St Joseph’s Medical Center in Bellingham via an ambulance.

Responders reported a power outage had darkened electronic traffic signals on Main Street in Ferndale.

Puget Sound Energy reported over 1,000 of their residential and commercial customers were without power as of 3:25am. By 5am, that number was reduced to 234 customers. A traffic accident was cited as the cause of the outage. The estimate for restoring power was 10:30am as of 7:25am.
