Each year, the Whatcom Dispute Resolution Center (WDRC) Board gives out 8 different Peace Builder Awards to individuals, groups, and organizations who have dedicated their efforts to strengthening community.

At tonight’s 14th Annual Peace Builder Awards Gala, the Collaboration Award will be given to the City of Ferndale for the Star Park Playground Project. According to WDRC, the award recognizes, “engaging the community in a collaborative project, and creating a common place for connection.”

City of Ferndale Mayor Jon Mutchler posted on Facebook, “Giant kudos go to our city’s previous mayor, Gary Jensen, two city councils, an amazing City staff, thousands of volunteers, some 300 businesses, churches, organizations, schools, and more that made this happen.”

The Gala is scheduled for 5:30pm at Settlemyer Family Hall on the Bellingham Technical College campus.
