A helicopter and several fire district vehicles can be expected to be visible in the area of Alcoa Intalco Works and later by Hovander Homestead Park as multiple agencies take part in joint exercises this evening, Monday, October 15th.
Whatcom County Fire District 7 (WCFD7) Lieutenant Michael Gustafson said joint training exercises with Intalco personnel, Naval Air Station Whidbey Island (NASWI) Search and Rescue crews and WCFD7 personnel will begin about 7pm tonight at Intalco.
Later, after Hovander Homestead Park has closed, WCFD7 and NASWI crews will continue the latter phase of the exercises in the park area.
Unlike training exercises held at the Mountain View Elementary School campus last year, the public is not invited to observe the exercises up close. “We’re not wanting to attract a crowd of spectators like last year,” Gustafson said in an email.
