Products “on a stick” from 2 companies recalled due to risk of wood pieces in the food

WHATCOM COUNTY, Wash. — Recalls have been issued by 2 companies for products sold on sticks that may be contaminated with extraneous material, specifically pieces of wood embedded in the batter.

  • Foster Poultry Farms, LLC, of California, is recalling approximately 3,843,040 pounds of chicken corn dog and ground turkey on a stick products produced between July 30, 2024, through August 4, 2025
    • Brands include
      • Foster Farms
    • products subject to recall have an establishment number “P-6137B” either inside the USDA mark of inspection or printed on the packaging
    • shipped to retail and institutional locations nationwide
  • The Hillshire Brands Company, of Texas, is recalling approximately 58,000,000 pounds of corn dog and sausage on a stick products packaged between March 17, 2025, and September 26, 2025
    • Brands include
      • State Fair
      • Jimmy Dean
    • products subject to recall bear establishment number “EST-582” or “P-894” printed on the packaging
    • sold online and shipped to retail and food service locations nationwide

The problems were discovered after US Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) received a consumer complaint involving an injury from consumption of Foster Poultry Farms products in additional to the company receiving multiple consumer complaints, 5 of which involved injuries. Hillshire Brands also received multiple consumer complaints, 5 of which involved injuries.

FSIS is concerned that some products may be in consumers’ refrigerators and freezers and are urged not to consume them. These products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase.
