Several students became ill for yet an unknown reason today about noon forcing officials to require school buildings throughout the Ferndale School District to keep students inside and to close doors and windows to keep outside elements from entering the buildings.

Students at Horizon Middle School and Eagleridge Elementary School who did not walk home were relocated to the Ferndale High School gymnasium to be picked up by parents or to take their regularly assigned bus home.

Ferndale School District officials announced this afternoon that classes and bus transportation would resume tomorrow, Friday, June 2nd, at their normal times and on regular routes.

According to the district, “authorities have checked our school buildings and have determined they are safe for occupancy. We have not been informed what the cause of the odor was determined to be. Authorities will be investigating the cause in the days to come.”
