Strong winds have been rolling through the area all morning and now into the afternoon and with them have come power outages. Puget Sound Energy (PSE) crews are busy around Whatcom County dealing with outages which may impact the time it takes for restoring power in some locations.
Given the forecast for the high winds to last through the day and into the evening, Ferndale area outages will be listed below and updated as information becomes available.
Noteworthy: a large tree branch broke off a tall tree and fell into the traffic lanes on Main Street a block west of Douglas Road this evening. No reports of damage or injuries but it did get in the way of traffic until being shoved off the road into a nearby parking lot.
**RESTORED** North Ferndale (Enterprise Road) – reported 5:45pm
Neighbors reported seeing lines arcing in the trees about the time the power went out in north Ferndale. PSE says 564 customers are without power and the estimate for restoring power is 8pm.
All but 41 customers on Zell Road have had their power restored. The estimate for restoring power to the rest is 6am.
**RESTORED** Lummi Island – reported 5:30pm
A second outage on Lummi Island has been reported on the west end. PSE reports 155 of their customers are without power and the estimated time to restore power is 7:30pm.
The estimated time to restore power is now 6am and the number impacted is now 215.
**RESTORED** Lummi Island – reported 4:10pm
About the same time as this outage was reported fire crews were dispatched to a report of lines down and a possibly related brush fire near the intersection of S Nugent Road and Seacrest Drive. PSE reports
223 482 of their customers are without power on the island and are currently estimating power will be restored by 6:30pm.
47 24 customer have had their power restored according to PSE. The estimate for restoring power to the final group is 11:30pm.
**RESTORED** West Ferndale – reported 3:30pm
A second outage has been reported in west Ferndale. This one is located south of Lake Terrell and, according to PSE, impacts 31 of their customers. The estimate for restoring power is 5:30pm.
The estimation for restoring power has been updated to 1:30am. This outage is being blamed on “equipment failure” according to PSE.
The estimation for restoring power has been updated to 9am.
**RESTORED** East Lummi Peninsula – reported 12:50pm
PSE reported 381 of their customers lost power this afternoon on the east side of the Lummi Peninsula. The estimate as of 1:20pm is for power to be restored by 3pm.
All but 89 (see new map graphic) of the PSE customers impacted have had their power restored according to PSE. The remaining customers can expect power restored by 7pm according to PSE.
The estimation for restoring power has been updated to 10pm.
**RESTORED** West Ferndale – reported 10:20am
PSE reported 130 of their customers were without power this morning in west Ferndale. Initial estimates were to have power restored by 12:30pm but, as of 12:35pm, the estimate is 5:30pm.
