Lynden man pleads guilty to assault, witness tampering, burglary and other charges, to serve 10 years in prison

BELLINGHAM, Wash. — 1 of 2 people arrested on April 25th, charged with suspicion of several narcotics and weapons crimes, let out on bail 2 days later and arrested the next day charged with suspicion of witness tampering, burglary and assault has pled guilty and been sentenced.

Benjamin Vallejo, age 46, was sentenced on August 1st in Whatcom County Superior Court to 10 years in prison and 18 months of community custody following. Vallejo pled guilty to the following felony charges.

  • unlawful delivery of a controlled substance (methamphetamine)
  • unlawful possession of a controlled substance with intent to manufacture or deliver (methamphetamine)
  • 2 counts of 1st-degree unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon
  • residential burglary
  • 2nd-degree assault
  • tampering with a witness

The drug and weapons charges resulted from a months-long investigation by the Whatcom County Gang & Drug Task Force.

Vallejo is a convicted felon and has been previously found guilty of the following in Whatcom Court since 2008.

  • 1st-degree theft
  • 2nd-degree burglary
  • 3rd-degree assault
  • reckless driving
  • reckless endangerment
  • 1st-degree malicious mischief
  • bail jumping

The other person suspected of being Vallejo’s co-conspirator, Ashley M Andrews, age 31, is still awaiting trial in Whatcom County Superior Court.
