Update 3/12/16 4pm: Due to the high winds expected tomorrow, the District has postponed this live fire training. It has been tentatively rescheduled for Friday, March 18th.
Original Story
A step in preparing for the business park planned at 6407 Portal Way is the demolition of a house on the property. According to the city, the house has been donated to Whatcom County Fire Protection District 7 so it can be used for training.
The plan, according to the city, is for firefighters to conduct smoke and rescue drills through the day on Saturday, March 12th. Then on Sunday a controlled burn of the house will begin with small room fires about 9am and a full building fire beginning about 1pm. This will enable firefighters to test equipment and continue with training. It is expected the burn on Sunday will continue until around 4pm.
