Ferndale Public Works crews have painted symbols on the road surfaces and will be installing signs to designat 4 new handicap parking spaces in downtown Ferndale.
The parking stalls will be ADA (American Disability Act) compliant parking spaces according to an announcement from the City of Ferndale.
The 3 spaces on Main Street and the one adjacent to the City Annex (location of Council and Court Chambers) will be van-accessible parking spots according to the City. Although, the space next to the City Annex will be the only one with adjacent striping.
According to the City’s announcement, “These spaces are part of the City’s effort to increase access to our downtown core to all our residents, no matter their mobility.”
City staff first presented their recommendation to the Ferndale City Council on January 3rd and it was approved at the following meeting on January 17th.
