Governor Inslee yesterday announced Washington State and United States flags in Washington State be lowered to half-staff on Monday, May 15th, in recognition of the annual Peace Officers Memorial Day.

Since no flag should fly higher than the US flag, all other flags, including state, municipal, corporate or otherwise, should also be lowered.

Peace Officers Memorial Day is a national observance to pay tribute to local, state and federal law enforcement officers who have died in the line of duty. It is recognized annually during National Police Week.

Flags should remain at half-staff until close of business or sunset on May 15th.
