Get on the Lummi Island ferry by 11pm tonight or wait until tomorrow

The Whatcom Chief is scheduled to be temporarily out of service tonight, Friday, October 21st, so emergency repairs can be made to the docking system.

According to an announcement from Whatcom County Public Works Ferry Division, the service outage is scheduled to begin after the 11pm run from Lummi Island and the 11:10pm run from Gooseberry Point. Those will be the last runs of the evening.

While plans are to resume service at 7am tomorrow, the announcement warns,

It is anticipated that the ferry will be back to its regular schedule on Saturday, October 22, 2016.  However, the ferry cannot resume runs until after this emergency repair is complete.  Therefore, the first runs of the day may be delayed.
