National Weather Service Seattle office forecasters upgraded yesterday’s High Wind Watch to a High Wind Warning this morning emphasizing the certainty of hazardous high winds.
Forecasters say a strong front will move into the area tonight resulting in strong southeasterly winds “in the typical windy spots.”
More specifically, the updated alert says to expect sustained southeast winds of 20 to 40mph with gusts to 60mph between 8pm this evening and noon Sunday.
Computer models disagree slightly on the timing of gusts over 45mph in the Ferndale area. The ECMWF model expects gusts to achieve 45mph by 1am, the NAM model expects the same by 4am and the GFS model expects the same by 7am.
