LYNDEN, Wash. — First responders were dispatched to the roundabout at Wiser Lake Road and Guide Meridian (SR539) about 1am on Sunday, June 16th, due to reports of a car versus tree crash.
According to a press memo from the Washington State Patrol, a 32-year-old Omak man was driving a 2022 Subaru WRX sedan southbound on Guide Meridian when it entered the roundabout, drove off the roadway and struck a tree. The Subaru came to rest down an embankment and the driver was ejected.
The driver was declared dead at the scene. There were no other occupants.
It was determined the driver was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
All lanes of Guide Meridian were reportedly closed at the crash scene until about 4:45am while the crash was being investigated.
