A Ferndale man and a juvenile male face charges for allegedly taking indecent liberties with at least one teenage juvenile girl during a camp out Monday night at an Elder Road address with other high schoolers.

Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office Undersheriff Jeff Parks said Andrey Sergeyevich Belyy, age 20, and an unnamed 17-year-old male accomplice went into tents and accosted girls as they slept. One girl was sexually groped by force according to Parks.

Belyy and his male accomplice also got into a car and tried unsuccessfully to drive off in it while the owner slept in the back, Parks said.

They were detained at the scene by WCSO deputies early Tuesday morning, June 27th, after 911 was called and both Belyy and the juvenile male were identified by victims and witnesses.

Belyy was booked into the Whatcom County Jail accused of taking indecent liberties, attempted theft of a motor vehicle, 2 counts of 4th degree assault and 2nd degree driving while license is suspended. He has since been released after posting a $20,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court next on July 7th.

The juvenile male was booked into juvenile detention on suspicion of taking indecent liberties and attempted theft of a motor vehicle.
