FERNDALE, Wash. — The Ferndale Downtown Association will hold its 18th Annual Community Clean Up Day on Saturday, May 2, 2026. The event is scheduled from about 8am to about 12pm at the corner of Fourth Avenue and Alder Street. A portion of Alder Street will be closed to facilitate a drive-through to dispose of unwanted items and recycling.
Participants may dispose of electronics, including televisions and printers. The Ferndale Free Pile will accept items for reuse or exchange. No-cost yard waste vouchers will be available for use at Recycling & Disposal Services (RDS).
The following items will not be accepted:
- refrigerators
- air conditioning units
- tires
- chemicals
- oil
- household garbage
- curbside recycling
Whatcom County Health and Community Services will provide information regarding disposal of restricted items.
We also have a special project opportunity this year. We’re hoping to match a volunteer group with a local downtown business to help tackle some outdoor building maintenance—those small but important projects that help keep downtown looking sharp and welcoming but can be hard to get to when you’re busy running a business.
If your group would be interested in taking on a special project, please reach out and we’ll work on matching you with a business that would truly appreciate the extra hands to knock out a few of those to-do list items.
