Ferndale-based Grant’s Burgers will be opening a new location in Deming this month if things go according to plan.

Owner Kim Fox says the new location will be located at 4965 Mount Baker Highway, the former location of The Road House Bar & Grille.

“Everything will be the same as the other Grants,” Fox said. “Same hours, 11am to 7pm, Monday through Saturday.” But, added, there is going to be counter seating “like in the old soda fountain stores,” something not found at the other Grant’s Burgers locations.

Grant’s Burgers is named for Fox’s father, Russ Grant, who purchased Jack’s Drive-In in the early 1980s with his wife, Linda, in Ferndale at 1861 Main Street, approximately where Sonic Drive-In is now, and renamed it Grant’s Drive-In. He continued to operate it until 2007 when the property was converted to a retail center including the Sonic Drive-In location.

Fox reopened Grant’s Burgers in Ferndale at 2254 Douglas Road in 2009, months after Russ’ untimely passing. She has since expanded to locations in Lynden and Bellingham and appears at fairs and festivals via the Grant’s Burgers food truck.

Fox said she has just launching new Grant’s merchandise. This includes t-shirts, hoodies and more. They can be ordered from their website.
