The City of Ferndale announced today that the rolling crack-seal project contractor will have completed work on Thornton Street and Vista Avenue by the end of today and be moving on to Main Street tomorrow, October 15th. This is days ahead of schedule as the contractor was not expected to start work on Main Street until next week.
The crack-seal work next week will happen on Main Street from the Nooksack River bridge and heading eastward. Drivers will be routed around the work crew as it moves down Main Street. Flaggers will be in place directing traffic around the construction zone. Expect some delays.
The plan is for work to end by 3pm each day to avoid impacting evening rush hour traffic on Main Street. But work will begin at 8am so plan your morning commute accordingly.
Next week, starting Tuesday, the plan is to begin work on Main Street from the bridge and heading west between 1st and 4th Avenues. During this time, traffic will be detoured along Alder Street. Again work will be conducted between 8am and 3pm. People are advised to park on side streets off Main Street during those days while work is happening since access to parked vehicles may be limited.
