Washington state Governor Jay Inslee announced today, April 24th, that effective Monday, April 27th, construction can resume on some existing construction sites.
The announcement today referred to this as “Phase I” of construction restart after the governor’s “Stay home, Stay safe” order that deemed most construction a non-essential activity that had to cease in order to minimize the spread of the COVID-19 disease.
The fundamental requirement for defining existing residential and commercial construction projects as “low-risk” was that work activities do not require workers to be closer than 6 feet.
City of Ferndale issued the following statement in response to today’s announcement.
Earlier this week, City of Ferndale officials had announced they would allow some construction existing projects to resume as long as social distancing was observed and, in some cases, only one worker would be allowed on a construction site at a time.
