EVERSON, Wash. — First responders were dispatched to a garage fire in the 1000 block of Central Road about 1:30pm today, April 16th.

According to North Whatcom Fire and Rescue (NWFR) Fire Chief Jason Van der Veen, it was a relatively minor fire and no one was injured but firefighters had to get up on the roof of the 2-story structure to remove roofing to ensure there were no hot spots.

Firefighters from NWFR, Whatcom County Fire District 7, Bellingham Fire Department and the Lynden Fire Department were visible at the scene.

Crews remained for about 2 hours according to the public safety dispatch log provided by PulsePoint.

The Whatcom County Fire Marshal’s Office was investigating the cause of the fire according to Van der Veen.
