Lummi Island ferry out of service overnight

LUMMI ISLAND, Wash. — Whatcom County Public Works Ferry Division officials report they have suspended ferry service for the remainder of today, Monday, May 18, 2026.

About 3:25pm, officials initially reported the vehicle ferry service was suspended at Gooseberry Point due to a dock equipment issue. They said a “limited passenger-only trip” would be provided for schoolchildren.

About 7pm, officials announced that ferry service remained suspended due to an equipment issue at the Gooseberry Point dock and there was no estimated timeline for restoring service.

The next update from officials is expected about Tuesday, May 19, 2026 by 9am.
