Early morning fire at Bellingham business

BELLINGHAM, Wash. — An indoor legal marijuana growing operation was the scene of a fire last night in Bellingham.

According to Bellingham Fire Department (BFD) Public Information Officer Dustin Michaelis, the report of a fire came from Bellingham Police Department (BPD) officers who were in the 4000 block of Hammer Drive due to multiple burglar alarms going off.

When firefighters arrived, they found heavy smoke and fire coming from the roof.

The building house a legal marijuana growing operation. Half the building was considered a total loss and BFD and BPD are investigating the cause.
